Cassis American Brasserie

Quick Facts: French, Italian and American Cuisine - Brunch, Lunch and Dinner - Indoor and Outdoor Seating - On Beach Drive - Bakery - Private Dining / Event Room - Full Bar - Homemade Ice Cream and Sorbet
Cassis American Brasserie is one of those venues that quite literally has it all...great location, interesting design, lively ambiance and tasty food and drinks. The interior's ubiquitous globe lights and black / white tile are warmed by padded seating, yellow accent lighting and painted walls. The white linen table cloths shift the feel toward the upscale, but not too much so. One of the great things about St Pete is the number of places that have sidewalk seating and Cassis is no exception. Outdoor seating allows diners to relax while still feeling a part of the active downtown waterfront, and the view of the park and marina across Beach Drive certainly help to top off the Cassis experience.
We classified Cassis as an "American Fare" restaurant, but only in the sense that the menu, like our nation's citizenry, reflects influences from several countries: Italy, France, Cuba and Mexico. The pictures above are from the weekend brunch, but Cassis has lunch, dinner, desserts, drinks and an in house bakery. In fact, there are nine food and drink menus posted on their web site.
Cassis is one of several "brasseries" popping up in the TB area. A look at wikipedia's definition of a brasserie shows that Cassis meets the definition quite well: A "restaurant with a relaxed, upscale setting, which serves single dishes and other meals [and]...can be expected to have professional service, printed menus, and, traditionally, white linen"(Wikipedia).
